HSE Lyceum

Cooperation and mutual respect, regardless of age and status

HSE Lyceum was established in 2013 as part of HSE University with the aim of helping school students develop their creative potential and preparing them for study at HSE. In 2017, the Lyceum became the biggest high school in Russia with the total students numbering around 1500 (10th and 11th grades).

HSE Lyceum is a modern and dynamic school, as well as an innovative leader in combining Russian educational traditions with the best global teaching and research practices. Students have an opportunity to be part of the HSE community, while also presenting their academic works and engaging in business projects.

As part of his official visit to Perm, HSE Rector Nikita Anisimov met with Dmitry Makhonin, Governor of Perm Krai. They signed a cooperation agreement between HSE University and the Government of Perm Krai. Key decisions made during the meeting include the creation of a HSE Lyceum in Perm for 10th and 11th-graders, with the first enrolment in 2022.

In 2020 the world changed, and so did HSE. Classes were held over Zoom, exams were taken online with proctoring, Meladze performed online at the graduation ceremony, and HSE Day became Brand New. The festival’s main stage area was called ‘HSE PRO Future’—because, after all, the future is important for any university. It’s why we do what we do. Stories of Salvation, or How We Grew Up, a book co-authored by HSE Lyceum senior Elena Tsybulina, tells the stories of ghetto and concentration camp survivors during WWII. The book was released shortly before International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which is observed on January 27.
