In 2020 the world changed, and so did HSE. Classes were held over Zoom, exams were taken online with proctoring, Meladze performed online at the graduation ceremony, and HSE Day became Brand New. The festival’s main stage area was called ‘HSE PRO Future’—because, after all, the future is important for any university. It’s why we do what we do. Read on to find out what the next 10 years hold in store for HSE, and what HSE, which has already changed this year, holds in store for us. Below are 10 promises made by HSE on its most important day.

January 27

Stories of Salvation, or How We Grew Up, a book co-authored by HSE Lyceum senior Elena Tsybulina, tells the stories of ghetto and concentration camp survivors during WWII. The book was released shortly before International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which is observed on January 27.

January 16

On January 8-14, the city of Almaty hosted the International Zhautykovsky Olympiad (IZO) in mathematics, physics, and computer science. In the computer science competition, HSE Lyceum 11th grader Alexander Potapov won a bronze medal. 84 teams from 21 countries including Norway, Romania, the UAE, and Nepal participated in the Olympiad.

November 07, 2019

HSE Lyceum senior Dmity Shcheglov was the first Lyceum student to participate in the international Chinese studies competition, which was held in Zhengzhou from October 17 to November 3. He placed among the top ten finalists from Europe.

July 02, 2019

On June 25-28 HSE Lyceum students participated in the Discover Ca' Foscari Week. The students attended lectures on various subjects, learned about Ca’ Foscari student life and participated in a rich cultural programme prepared by the university.

May 22, 2019

A video created by Polina Sotnikova, a student of the ‘Design’ programme at the HSE Lyceum, is being shown as part of the interactive exhibit Gogol in Moscow, which runs until June 2. The work, created in a motion design style, is currently being shown in the museum’s exhibit hall, which attracted tens of thousands of people on Museum Night.

March 16, 2018

Practically all events hosted by HSE Lyceum are accompanied by a charity fair organized by the student group, Charity Market. Money made from the market is donated to the animal support fund ‘Pick up a Friend’ and to the Kozhukhovsky Shelter, with whom Lyceum students have been cooperating for several years. The HSE news team has the latest news their interesting extracurricular projects.

HSE Lyceum was established in 2013 as a part of the Higher School of Economics (HSE) with the aim of helping school students develop their creative potential and preparing them for study at HSE. In 2017, the Lyceum became the biggest high school in Russia with its total students numbering around 1500 (10th and 11th grades). HSE Lyceum is a modern and dynamic school, as well as an innovative leader in combining Russian educational traditions with the best global teaching and research practices. Students have an opportunity to be direct participants in the HSE community, while also presenting their academic works and taking part in business projects.
